Motherblessing Ceremony

The Motherblessing is a ceremony designed to acknowledge and provide support to the pregnant woman before she goes through her birth process.  We would first like to acknowledge the Navajo people and their traditions which have been incorporated here, in addition to a personal weaving together of various rituals customized to meet each woman's needs.

The ceremony usually takes place sometime in the last month of pregnancy and is an opportunity for the pregnant person to receive the support and blessings from her sisterhood, although some women invite men as well.  It's your Motherblessing so you choose what suits you.

Many of the common rituals included in a Motherblessing are-- washing of the mother's feet, stringing together a necklace with beads brought by each participant and infused with their blessings for the new mother, walking a labyrinth, lighting candles, etc.
